NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – State health authorities are spreading the word about a program aimed at helping convicts as they get out of prison.

Two meetings are planned for September to teach people about the New Mexico Justice Re-Entry Program, which is a part of Medicaid.

“When people leave prison or jail with an established and trusted connection to health care services, they are more likely to continue needed medications, stay on treatment plans, and seek new services,” said Medicaid Director Dana Flannery. “We believe this can make a difference in the efforts to help people make successful returns to their communities.”
