LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Las Vegas has received its first installment of federal funds to assist in recovery efforts from recent wildfires and flooding. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided the city with $98 million to overhaul the city’s water treatment facilities following the damage caused by the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Fire in 2022.

Town hall meeting in Ruidoso will discuss wildfire and flash flooding recovery

The city said ash and debris from the fire polluted the water reservoirs but now with the federal funds they will be able to treat it.

There are $6 billion for infrastructure that has been unspent at the state. Commissioners and city representatives should be asking about getting some of it.
