    Bernalillo County Commission approves contract for new county manager

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Commission approved a contract for the new county manager. Cindy Chavez will officially begin serving as county manager on November 13 succeeding former manager Julie Morgas Bacas who retired at the end of June.

    Chavez comes from the San Jose, California area where she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Under the contract, Chavez will serve as county manager through November 4, 2028, and make $230,000 a year. The contract was approved by commissioners unanimously.
