DOÑA ANA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Multiple New Mexico fire chiefs signed a mutual aid agreement on Tuesday improving fire response times and making for more efficient emergency services for Doña Ana County. That agreement was signed by the fire chiefs for the City of La Cruces, the town of Mesilla, Sunland Park, New Mexico State University, and Doña Ana County.

Under the agreement, when a fire occurs, the closest available resources will automatically be dispatched regardless of jurisdictional boundaries. The region said this is a significant step toward expanding public safety and emergency preparedness.
