[1] Albuquerque police chief faces lawsuit over crash – Court documents show the family of the man injured in a car crash involving APD’s Chief of Police is now filing a lawsuit against the city and Chief Harold Medina. Todd Perchert had serious injuries when Chief Medina crashed into his vehicle in February. Medina says gunfire caused him to speed through a red light. An internal investigation uncovered that Medina did not turn on his body camera after the crash. The chief claimed he was invoking his fifth amendment right to not self-incriminate. The investigation revealed police department policy did not permit Medina to do that.

APD says officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area. When officers arrived they found one victim that had suffered from gunshot wounds and was dead on scene. A second victim was taken to a hospital, where they died from their wounds.

[3] Slow-moving pockets of storms impact New Mexico – As temperatures across the region rise into the upper 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and lower 90’s by the afternoon, an influx of moisture in the air from the southwest, along with just enough daytime heating, will lead to plenty of areas receiving at least some heavy doses of rainfall. The west-central part of the region has the best chance of rain for today with the flash flooding risk higher in the early-to-mid afternoon hours.

[4] Iconic building in downtown Albuquerque up for sale – The iconic building that houses The Range Café in downtown Albuquerque is up for sale. The building, on Central near Broadway, opened in 2006 as the Standard Diner before taking on the Range Café name in 2020. Vince DiGreggory, the current owner of the building, says his family are willing to entertain the idea of continuing to run downtown café under a lease if any future building owner is interested in keeping them around. The property is listed for $2.8 million.

[5] Bernalillo County launches Mobile Rec Unit to offer kids safe recreational activities – Kids in the metro will now have more access to activities thanks to the Bernalillo County’s community center on wheels. The mobile rec van travels to parks and provides kids with games to play. The Mobile Rec Unit aims to build trust with the community and to provide information on city services for parents. The county said providing kids with this outlet will help keep them out of trouble.
