LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – It has been awhile since the NMSU football team opened the season with a win. The last time it happened was a 28-10 victory over FBS opponent Cal Poly in 2014.

The Aggies are set to open the seaosn on Saturday in Las Cruces against Southeast Missouri. It will be the first game under head coach Tony Sanchez.

“Just to get that momentum going for the fans and community will be awesome, to go one and oh this week so we will have something to build off of,” said NMSU safety Dylan Early.

“We got to go out and execute at a high level,” Sanchez said. “You know, we got to put a lot of energy, a lot of great execution, you got to communicate at a high level. You know, you got to kind of keep your wits about yourself. So, I think if we do those things we have a great opportunity to come out on top. It will be great for these guys for all the hard work they put in throughout the offseason.”

NMSU and Southeast Missouri are set to kickoff at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
