Corley sisters win in US Open first round

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Ivanna and Carmen Corley are moving on in the US Open. The sister duo won their opening round match in the major tennis tournament on Thursday 6-1, 6-3.

The former Eldorado Eagles and New Mexico high school state champions looked solid in their major debut against the Russian doubles team of Alexandrova and Blinkova. The Corleys won the final four games of the match.

With the win, the Corleys move on to the second round against Hao-Ching Chan and Veronika Kudermetova. The second round of women’s doubles is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 30.
