    New Mexico State Police arrest man accused of driving drunk, leading police on chase

    NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police have arrested a man they said was driving drunk after he led police on a chase. Police said on Monday morning they received calls of a driver swerving in and out of lanes on Route 66 in Santa Rosa. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but they say the vehicle fled.

    Police said the driver, identified as 20-year-old Patrick Chavez, was driving more than 100 miles per hour before he lost control and wrecked. Chavez tried to exit the vehicle and leave on foot but police were able to arrest him. Two female passengers were found in the vehicle with one of them being under 18. They had no injuries. Chavez is facing several charges including abuse of a child and aggravated DWI.
