ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Family, friends, and the local law enforcement community came together to celebrate the life of an Albuquerque police officer, Bianca Quintana, killed in a hit-and-run crash last month.

“I witnessed my sister Bianca sacrifice many things throughout her life,” said Mariaisabel Dominguez, Quintana’s younger sister. “Things like her childhood, only to make sure I had one. From long shifts to even longer days. From homework to home plays.

Officer Quintana’s love for softball was echoed by a number of speakers as well as her dedication to protecting her community. City officials including Mayor Tim Keller, and Albuquerque Police Chief of Police Harold Medina, along with some of her co-workers, also spoke about the sacrifices Officer Quintana made for her colleagues, friends, and family- and how she represented what it meant to be an Albuquerque police officer.

“As time went on, I learned that Bianca was just a very jolly and goodhearted person and just loved to be happy and make those around her feel happy- as well as she always tried to put a smile on their face and for this, she made a great police officer,” said Albuquerque police Sergeant Albert Simmons.

The 31-year-old was remembered as a friend, mother, wife, daughter, and cousin. Speakers at the service on Monday said she would go out of her way to make someone’s day better. Investigators are still searching for the driver who killed Officer Quintana along Coors in the South Valley back in August.
