ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque city councilors unanimously approved a million dollars in funding for the Mesa Film Studios Project . The project will bring a studio with new sound stages, a back lot, production office space and a permanent blue screen to 56 acres of land near the Double Eagle II Airport.

City officials spoke in support of the motion, saying the studio will allow the film industry to continue growing in the area. Some residents voiced their support for the project, while others mentioned concerns about how the development will impact nearby tribal lands. City officials responded to concerns, saying tribal governments were notified of the development proposal.
