    New Mexico Election 2024: Important dates, voter information, early voting map

    NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Before we know it, Election Day 2024 is going to be here. It’s important to have everything you need to know before going to the polls on Tuesday, November 5. Here are some dates you need to know and information for the big day.

    Important dates

    • Deadline to register to vote – Tuesday, October 8
    • Early voting begins – Tuesday, October 8
    • Deadline to request absentee ballot – Tuesday, October 22
    • Early voting ends – Saturday, November 2
    • Election Day – Tuesday, November 5

    If you’re not sure if you’re registered to vote, you can check your status on the New Mexico Secretary of State website . No-excuse absentee voting is available to all voters. Absentee ballots can be mailed or returned in person on Election Day at any county polling location. You can locate the nearest polling location to you on the Secretary of State’s website as well.

    Voting on Election Day

    Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. If you did not register before the deadline, Same Day Registration (SDR) is available at your County Clerk’s office or at any polling location and participating early voting locations.

    To participate in SDR, you’ll need to bring a New Mexico driver’s license or New Mexico identification card issued through the Motor Vehicle Division or the Taxation and Revenue Department; any document that contains an address in the county along with a photo ID card; or a current valid student photo ID from a post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico and a current student fee statement containing the student’s address in the county.

    Absentee voting by mail

    An absentee ballot can be requested by filling out an application and returning it to your local County Clerk. Applications are available online . The application can also be mailed to your County Clerk’s office .

    A ballot will then be sent out to voters who have completed the application. Your absentee application status can be checked here .
