Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office testing out 4 day work weeks for deputies

SANTA FE COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is trying a new strategy to hire more deputies. The department announced they are rolling out a six-month pilot patrol schedule next month.

In the program, deputies will work eight hours a day for four days a week with another two hours devoted to activities for their physical and mental well-being. The sheriff’s office said they will analyze metrics on a monthly basis during the trial run to determine the program’s success.

They’re hoping the program eases the stress of current deputies and helps potential ones apply for jobs.
