The district says a threat was made against Del Norte High School, causing it to go into lockdown. The lockdown was lifted after police found the threats were not credible. [2] Legal battle between NM ethics commission and former candidate’s group continues – A legal battle continues on how the state should classify a New Mexico organization and whether or not it should disclose the sources of its funding. In May, the state ethics commission filed a lawsuit against former gubernatorial candidate Jeff Apodaca and the group he runs, “The New Mexico Project.” The group says its goal is to amplify Latino and moderate voices as a nonprofit, but the suit claimed it was acting as a political committee and was violating the campaign reporting act. In an order last month, a judge says it did meet the definition of a political committee and issued a preliminary injection requiring the group to register with the Secretary of State’s office by September 4, 2024 and disclose its expenditures and contributions. Neither has happened and the group is fighting back with new motions asking the judge to reconsider. A hearing for the motions to reconsider is scheduled for next week.

[3] Much drier & breezy weather around New Mexico – Conditions will warm up though as temperatures will rise across the region. Much less moisture in the air will to lead to cloud-free skies for many with only a few showers possible around the southeastern areas of the state. Stronger southwesterly upper-level winds have ushered in the clearer weather in New Mexico.

[4] ABQ support group celebrates one year of helping stroke survivors, families – A group aimed at helping stroke victims and their families is celebrating a major milestone. It’s been more than a year since “Hope In Crisis: Healing Through Community” was founded. Since it began, the group has helped 45 people in the Albuquerque area. Healthcare professionals said the group is making a difference. ‘Hope in Crisis’ meets every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center.

[5] XTERRA triathlon coming to Ruidoso next summer – In the effort to boost tourism numbers that took a hit after fires and flooding, the Village of Ruidoso has announced a partnership with XTERRA and plans to hold a triathlon next August. The running, swimming, and biking athletes will be competing for a world championship qualification at the event. The village said there’s an opportunity for the race to come back again over the next three to five years.
