Man wanted for Tucumcari shooting; NMSP warns to call police if he’s spotted

QUAY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Quay County Crime Stoppers is asking the public for help in locating a man wanted for attempted murder.

According to Crime Stoppers , Alex Joe Patrick Gutierrez is wanted out of Tucumcari and is facing several charges. New Mexico State Police said Gutierrez and another man knocked on a door Friday afternoon and held the resident at gunpoint, demanding a backpack.

Gutierrez is then accused of shooting the resident twice in the stomach. NMSP said he and the other man held a driver at gunpoint, forcing them to drive the two to another location before fleeing the area.

Officials claimed he has ties to Tucumcari and Albuquerque. Guttierez is also believed to be armed and dangerous. The public is advised to not approach him, and instead, call the police (at 575-382-2500, option 1) or contact Crime Stoppers.
