ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The trial for Solomon Peña has been vacated and will be rescheduled after it was originally set to begin Monday. Peña, a former New Mexico House of Representatives candidate, is accused of orchestrating shootings at the homes of four Bernalillo County Democrats who he believed were responsible for his loss.

Peña ran as a Republican for the New Mexico House of Representatives District 14 seat in 2022. Investigators say Peña was the mastermind and organized the shootings. While in jail awaiting this trial, investigators said Peña told two of his fellow inmates how he carried out the shootings and offered them $10,000 each to kill witnesses expected to testify against him.

The trial against Peña will now be rescheduled. A new date for the trial has not yet been set. Per the judges orders, Peña’s attorney is no longer representing him.
