Free fishing around New Mexico on September 28 – 29

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexicans can fish for free during the state’s free fishing weekend on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29. Fishing will be free in public fishing waters through the weekend.

The free fishing weekend coincides with National Hunting and Fishing Day, which is September 28. “This is a great time to take your family fishing and teach them a skill that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment,” Director for the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Mike Sloane said in a release.

The department says while fishing is free, people must follow bag limits and all other rules and regulations. For information on fishing rules and regulations, click here.
