ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Angel Chavez pleaded guilty Thursday for a murder he committed as a teenager.

Man sentenced for shooting, killing teen in Clovis

Chavez admitted to shooting and killing Jayden Vallez in 2021. Chavez was not arrested until 2023. Police tracked Chavez’s cell phone from his home in the South Valley to the crime scene and a family member told police that Chavez admitted to being involved.

Chavez pleaded guilty to first degree murder. As part of the plea deal, conspiracy and tampering with evidence charges will be dropped. Chavez faces up to 18 years in prison.
