ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The city is saying ‘thank you’ to older residents who serve their communities.

Patrick Sena, who has given more than 800 hours of his time, was named volunteer of the year.

“The impact these folks have is real, it matters, and it’s why volunteerism and service are an essential part of what makes Albuquerque special,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “They enrich peoples’ lives and create a positive ripple effect throughout our community, reminding us that we all have the power to transform, to rejuvenate, and to create a better city for all our families.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Gloria Borton, a volunteer at the Bear Canyon Senior Center for more than 10 years.
