    [1] CYFD Secretary responds to claims that facility was in filthy condition – CYFD’s Department Secretary is addressing recent concerns after finding a urine-soaked couch, bed bugs, lice and filthy carpet in one of their buildings. CYFD Secretary Teresa Casados says the state spent $13,000 cleaning the facility for lice and bed bugs. She said there was lice, but not an infestation. A report from exterminators stated the did not find bed bugs.

    [2] Balloon Fiesta day seven – This year APS fall break lines up perfectly with the last Friday of Balloon Fiesta. APS says this fortunate scheduling is a great opportunity for students to understand ballooning and New Mexico Culture. APS says it can’t guarantee a Fiesta Friday off every year because of how the academic calendar lines up with the days of the week.

    [3] Record heat before a cool front – Mostly clear skies with relatively chilly mornings and seasonably warm afternoons will continue for at least the next few days as despite a storm system approaching late this weekend into early next week,

    [4] UNM set to break ground on new fine arts building – UNM’ Fine Arts College is getting its first new facility in 60 years. Construction on the multi-million dollar project is now underway. The Center for Collaborative Arts and Technology will include a 600-seat performance hall across from Johnson Field. It is set to be complete by spring of 2026

    [5] ‘Grit for President’ campaign raises more than $100K in first month for ABQ non-profit – Grit the dog, a labrador, launched his run for the presidency. The four-legged candidate’s “campaign” has raised more than 100,000 thousand votes which translates to more than $100,000 raised for the local non-profit Warehouse 505. All those proceeds will go to after-school programs that the organization offers for Albuquerque youth.
