    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It is Hispanic Heritage Month and the U. S. Mint us putting a new quarter featuring “the queen of salsa” Celia Cruz. Celebrity Historian Raffi Andonian speaks on Hispanic heritage month and the new coin.

    Growing up in Havana, Cuba Cruz was exposed to diverse performances and musicians. She began working with working with different groups, continuing to gain experience and exposure. Cruz ended up in the United States and meshed some of the sounds she picked up during her career and created modern salsa music, which is why she is known as the queen of salsa.
