AFR: Menaul at University closed for several hours because of fire

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Fire crews battled a fire at a vacant building on Menaul Road NE near Interstate 25 on Monday.

Menaul Boulevard was shut down in both directions west of University on Monday because of the fire. Albuquerque Fire Rescue said the roof of the building, located at 1760 Menaul Rd. NE, collapsed. The building is located across the street from The Querque Hotel. AFR said the building was used to store hotel supplies and storage for a non-profit.

AFR said there was a report of the gas leak which soon became a fire. Crews said it took two and a half hours to get the flames under control.
