    [1] Man kills three family members at home in Tijeras, BCSO says – According to BCSO, on Sunday afternoon neighbors called about hearing gunshots. Deputies say they showed up to find 24-year-old Adlai Mestre with a gun and blood on his clothing. The bodies of Adlai’s father, mother and 17-year-old sister were found laying in a nearby ravine. The family dog was also shot. Mestre is facing charges of murder and cruelty to animals. Detectives are investigating the killings and are awaiting the autopsy reports for the victims.

    [2] AG’s Office: 8 child predators arrested after undercover operation – Several suspected child predators were arrested due to an online chat operation involving several law enforcement agencies. New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez says through “Operation Overwatch” investigators identified nine suspects accused of child sexual exploitation, which led to eight arrests. The FBI urges the public to report any suspicious activity by phone or at their website.

    [3] Stormier weather ahead with dropping temperatures – Quiet weather for most of today will soon become much more active from later today through most of the week as summer-like weather will transition into a taste of winter for some ahead. A backdoor gusty cold front will arrive later today into tomorrow morning as the system moves by, allowing for more-seasonable weather.

    [4] ABQ officials explain why it’s taking months to replace broken trash bins – The City of Albuquerque is behind on replacing damaged trash bins. Almost 3,000 people a month are asking the Solid Waste Department for replacements. The city says it’s hard to meet the demand with limited stock available and is waiting on deliveries. They are working to prioritize replacing the most damaged bins first. The city says they are currently two months behind on orders.

    [5] Rare comet can be seen in New Mexico sky, local experts explain – Over the last few days, the Tschuchinshan Atlas Comet has been making an appearance. Jim Greenhouse with the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science said the name means Purple Mountain. Discovered in 2023, the rare comet can be seen easily and has exceeded the expectations of astronomical enthusiasts. The comet is expected to be visible through the rest of the month.
