ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man facing charges related to a six-year-old murder case will remain behind bars. Toure Britt is accused of killing Adrian Johnson near Coors Boulevard and Interstate 40 in March 2018.

Police say Britt and another man, Kevin Geier, planned to rob and kill Johnson. Witnesses heard two gunshots and saw a car with a Mexico license plate leave the area. Johnson was found dead with gunshot wounds and the car was located a few days later after being set on fire.

Albuquerque man charged with fatal Sunday night shooting

State prosecutors asked Judge Emeterio Rudolfo to keep Britt locked up through his trial based on the violent nature of the crime. Judge Rudolfo agreed, granting the state’s motion to keep him behind bars.

Geier, the man suspected of pulling the trigger, is in an Arizona prison for separate charges. The Albuquerque Police Department arrested a third suspect in the murder, Brandon Mendez, who is accused of driving at the time of the murder. The state has also asked to keep Mendez in custody through his trial.

Police are still searching for a fourth suspect in the case.
