ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s a blast from the past: a physical form of music that you need a special turntable to even play it.

One of the founders of Albuquerque 78 Spinners talks about how he’s changing the way young people listen to music.

A group of musicians and collectors gather to listen to old-timey tunes every month at the house of the man behind it all.

Richard Bowman and Dan Moss founded the spinners nearly three decades ago with only one, simple goal: enjoy music.

About 31 years ago, Bowman encountered a Bessie Smith record for just a dollar, and it took off from there. He explained the group is made up of all ages of people, like a 25-year-old fiddle player who now lives in Portland.

One song at the time, the Albuquerque 78 Spinners is paving the way for a new generation of old-time music enthusiasts.

On Saturday, the group is holding a record sale at the Albuquerque Wheels Museum at the Rail Yards. Click here for more information.
