UPDATE: One person dead in crash near Wilson Creek
8:45 P.M. UPDATE -- A 22-year-old man from Marlin lost his life earlier today following a single-vehicle accident just south of Marlin near Wilson Creek in Grant County. Sheriff's officials say James Friend was driving a mid-sized pickup north on Road W-Northeast at around 12:40 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the road to the east onto the soft shoulder. In an attempt to correct, the truck crossed to the west shoulder and collided with an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over. Friend was ejected from the truck. Despite the efforts of first responders to administer life-saving measures, his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. It's not yet known why Friend's vehicle left the road. Authorities do not believe Friend was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
