UPDATE: SLO police find, arrest man reportedly with gun near apartment complex

UPDATE (5:03 p.m.) - Authorities said Friday they located and arrested a man accused of being in possession of a firearm near an apartment complex in San Luis Obispo.

No firearm was found in his possession, police said, although the man, Luis Barron, was arrested on separate charges.

Those included drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of concentrated cannabis.

Police said he was arrested near the intersection of Madonna and Los Osos Valley roads around 9:30 a.m.

Luis Barron, 30, was previously arrested in early July at the Madonna Road Apartments following an hours-long standoff with police .

ORIGINAL: Police are searching for the male, who they believe to be Luis Barron, a former resident of the apartment complex.

Oat 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, a report was received that Barron was walking around the complex with a handgun.

Barron was previously arrested in July for weapons charges.

A reverse 9-1-1 was issued, and residents were ordered to shelter in place. Barron was not located, and the order was lifted. Police will continue to patrol the area.
