UPDATE: Paso Robles woman killed in crash on Hwy 101 near Wellsona Road

UPDATE (3:28 p.m.) - The California Highway Patrol has identified the person killed in the crash as Brianna Mae Thomas of Paso Robles.

Officers say the 27-year-old was heading eastbound on Wellsona Road before driving into the intersection of Highway 101, which was directly in the path of an oncoming semi truck.

The driver of the semi was unable to stop and crashed into the passenger side of Thomas’s Cadillac Eldorado, according to CHP.

Officers say Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

CHP says it’s not known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

ORIGINAL STORY: A deadly crash was reported along Highway 101 near Wellsona Road near Paso Robles Wednesday afternoon.

It happened at around 12:15 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle and semi-truck were involved in the collision in the northbound lanes of the highway near the San Paso Truck Stop.

One person was killed and another reportedly suffered minor injuries, according to CAL FIRE.

More information is expected to be released once officers clear the scene.

The lanes were clear as of 3:15 p.m.
