WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — From murals to sculptures, Wichita currently boasts over 200 pieces of public art.

It can be found in every corner of the city, from the outskirts to the interior. Now, there is a way to see every piece of public art in the city without leaving your home.

Wichita’s Division of Arts and Cultural Services partnered with The Public Art Archive , a free online and mobile database of completed public artworks across the globe. They have created an online portal to catalog all of Wichita’s public art that allows anyone to view the collection using an interactive map.

“The launch of this platform is a significant step in making our public art collection more accessible and aligns with our mission of ensuring everyone has access to the arts,” says City of Wichita Division of Arts and Cultural Services Director Lindsay Benacka in a news release. “As the City’s collection continues to grow and evolve, we look forward to using this nationally recognized platform to better serve our residents and ensure that Wichita’s collection continues to draw visitors to the community.”

The artwork ranges from contemporary works like the Georgia Gerber bronze sculptures along Douglas Ave in downtown Wichita to the Humane Alliance granite fountain from 1910 at 17th and Park Place. The Division of Arts and Cultural Services oversees 2% of Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project funds in order to ensure appropriate funding, selection, creation, conservation and maintenance of public art.
