Wichita schools and Sedgwick County host no-cost vaccine clinic

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita Public Schools and the Sedgwick County Health Department have partnered again to offer free vaccine clinics.

One was held Saturday inside the Alvin E. Morris building at Lincoln and Edgemoor. Kimber Kasitz, Director of Health Services, Homebound and Section 504 for USD 259, says the clinics are open to all children pre-K through grade 12 regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in Wichita Public Schools.

“We allow people to come in, even if they don’t speak English, we have interpreters to help them. We also help them with the scheduling process,” said Kasitz.

Children must be vaccinated by Oct. 22. If they are not up-to-date on their vaccinations and don’t have a religious or medical exemption, they will not be allowed to return to school.

Kasitz says there is still time to register for the clinic next weekend, Aug. 24. They will also hold clinics before the Oct. 22 deadline.

For your child to receive the vaccine, you need to bring along the following:

• Vaccination records
• Health insurance card (if the child has insurance)
• Letter of required immunizations from school nurse (if applicable)
