    Cosmosphere to host screening of upcoming Apollo 13 documentary

    HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — The Cosmosphere will host a free screening of the upcoming documentary about the Apollo 13 accident .

    Apollo 13: Survival ” documents the April 1970 mission that suffered a catastrophic explosion that left 3 American astronauts stranded in space and the efforts at NASA and on board the Odyssey space capsule to bring the crew back home safely.

    The Cosmosphere is the home of the Odyssey command module. From 1995 to 1997, the Spaceworks Team at the Cosmosphere fully restored the Odyssey, which is on display in the Hall of Space Museum.

    Kansas historic site grows with acquisition of church

    “We are the proud home of the Apollo 13 spacecraft, and we have a special place in the heart of our organization for the history of the Apollo 13 mission,” says Jim Remar, Cosmosphere CEO, in a news release. “We’re excited to share this free screening with the community.”

    The free screening will be held on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. on the day it premieres on Netflix. You can reserve your tickets online or call the Cosmosphere box office at 316-665-9312 .
