MEDICINE LODGE, Kan. (KSNW) — A domestic disturbance led to gunfire in Medicine Lodge.

Police say it happened Friday night at an apartment complex near U.S. Highway 281 and Stolp Ave. As police arrived, they heard 33 gunshots coming from one of the units.

Police say a woman exited an apartment and was quickly escorted to safety. As more law enforcement arrived, a 32-year-old man exited the apartment.

The man became combative, according to police, and officers used a taser to bring him under control. He has been jailed on numerous charges, where he remains on a $600,000 bond.

Police say they recovered at least one shell casing inside the apartment. The case remains under investigation.

Medicine Lodge was assisted at the scene by the Barber County Sheriff’s Office, Kiowa Police Department, and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
