Funeral services announced for fallen Ark City firefighter

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Arkansas City Fire and EMS has announced the funeral services for firefighter and EMT Trevor Rusk, who died on Aug. 24.

Rusk served the Arkansas City Fire Department since June 5, 2023 . He died while off-duty, the ACFD said.

“Firefighter Rusk served our community with dedication and bravery. His untimely passing is deeply felt by his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community he so valiantly protected,” Fire Chief Stuart Cassaboom said in a news release.

The ACFD said a visitation service will be held on Sept. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 3125 N. Summit St., Arkansas City .

A memorial service will be held on Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. at Wellington Free Will Baptist Church, 802 E. 16th St. in Wellington .

“The service will be an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues, and the public to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a man who dedicated himself to serving others. Firefighter Rusk’s bravery and dedication to duty were exceptional, and he will be forever remembered as a hero,” Cassaboom said in the release.
