Winfield Clydesdale service loses almost all its hay in fire

WINFIELD, Kan. (KSNW) — Broken Spoke Clydesdale’s in Winfield said it lost almost all of its hay in a fire on Friday night.

A Facebook post said the total loss was approximately 45 round hay bales, leaving them with five bales of good hay.

Broken Spoke said that within the next few days, four of those bales will have to be used.

Winfield Fire told KSN that crews were called to the fire around 9:30 p.m. on Friday night.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but Broken Spoke said someone was on their property who wasn’t supposed to be there.

“At this time, we are unsure of the cause of fire intentional or not,” the Facebook post said. “But someone was on our property that was not supposed to be. That was our hay for the entire year and well into next year.”

Winfield Fire said the fire is still under investigation.

Broken Spoke created a GoFundMe for those who would like to help, and it has already gained over $4,500.
