WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Crews will soon begin work on two sections of U.S. Highway 166 in Sumner and Cowley counties.

The Kansas Department of Transportation says that starting around Sept. 23, crews will begin resurfacing the highway from just east of Rock Road in Sumner County to just west of the Arkansas River Bridge, west of Arkansas City. Crews will mill and lay new hot-mix asphalt.

During the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Wichita-based Pearson Construction is the primary contractor for the two projects, which total nearly $3 million. Work is expected to be completed around Oct. 22.
