WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A northern Kansas man was killed when a semi hit his tractor in northern Kansas on Monday. It happened on U.S. Highway 36 west of Scandia in Republic County around 9:30 p.m.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a tractor operated by Andrew J. Pumphrey, 38, of Mankato, was westbound on U.S. Highway 36. A semi also heading west struck the tractor from behind. The tractor entered the ditch.

The KHP says Pumphrey was ejected and died at the scene. The semi’s driver and passenger, both from Lucas, received injuries. The passenger, a woman, was taken to Republic County Hospital.
