    Ellis County Sheriff warns of classic car scam

    WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a car-selling scam.

    A news release says the scam has been happening to people across the country who are buying collectible cars online with a dealership listed as doing business in Hays that does not exist.

    Sheriff Scott Braun said the fraudulent dealership is called “Crystal Peaks Cars,” and the website was just recently taken down.

    He urged everyone to use caution when buying and selling any item, including vehicles. Anyone in the community who has had contact with Crystal Peaks Cars is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 785-625-1040 .
