WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Police have arrested a 36-year-old Wichita man on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder. They allege that the man is responsible for a shooting at Erie’s Corner store three weeks ago.

On Sept. 13, a 40-year-old man purchased cigarettes at the store just after 9 p.m.

As he was walking toward the door, police say another man walked in, pulled out a handgun and began shooting the 40-year-old. The victim was hit six times in his upper and lower body. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The gunman fled.

The Wichita Police Department did not say what led them to find and arrest the 36-year-old man. They only said that the case is still under investigation.
