Wichita man pleads guilty in connection to murder of semi-pro football player

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita man entered a plea of guilty in connection to the death of Timothy Golden, 19, in 2017 .

Larry Triplett , 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and two counts of aggravated battery on Tuesday.

One of those counts of aggravated battery was in connection to a separate case in 2020 where a man was shot near the Keeper of the Plains in downtown Wichita.

The second-degree murder plea comes in connection to a shooting in July 2017 . According to investigators, Triplett, in addition to Ritchie Randle Jr. and another man , fired more than a dozen rounds into Golden’s apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Golden was a tight end for the Kansas Cougars, a semi-pro team that was based in Wichita.

A jury convicted Randle already in July 2018. He was sentenced to life plus 13 months in prison.

Triplett is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 22.
