WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita broke ground on a new transportation hub on Friday.

The multimodal facility, The Hub , will be located at the corner of Sycamore and Texas, right across the street from Riverfront Stadium.

The facility will have a parking garage and the city’s new bus transit center. The old transit center at William and Topeka will become home to the Wichita Biomedical Campus.

“So the long-term impact is it will provide additional parking for the Delano area, as well as the transit offices. There is an approximately 400-space parking garage that will be with it as well, so providing some much-needed parking in Delano,” Paul Gunzelman, city engineer, said.

“It represents years of strategic investment and planning to better respond to the growth of Wichita and the surrounding neighborhoods. The Hub will be a last-mile destination. It’s a place to park and then walk, ride a bike or a scooter, and meet up with friends before going to the stadium or other amenities in downtown Wichita,” Mayor Lily Wu said.

Construction will begin next week and finish by the summer of 2026.

The center will cost $26 million with federal funding covering some of it.
