    Maize South Middle School evacuated after threat

    WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Maize USD 266 said Maize South Middle School was evacuated for a short time Tuesday morning following a threatening voicemail message left there.

    The district said the school was searched, and nothing was found to substantiate the threat. Officials said that law enforcement will continue to investigate.

    Students who were evacuated to Maize South High School are now returning to Maize South Middle School.

    USD 266 said a child’s absence for a portion of the day would be excused, and they welcome any student who would like to return.

    Here is the note sent to parents:

    Maize South Middle School parents,

    Please know your children are being supervised by employees, school remains in session, and it is not necessary for you to pick up your child. Please avoid Maize South Middle School at this time.

    However, if you choose to pick up your child, please go to the athletic entrance at Maize South High School, 3701 N. Tyler Road in Wichita. Be prepared to show your identification. You must be listed in Skyward Family Access as the guardian or emergency contact for the child being picked up.
