KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WDAF) — The discussion of bringing Buc-ee’s to Kansas City, Kansas, continued Monday night during a city planning commission meeting.

Wyandotte County commissioners gave their recommendations to approve the applications so that Buc-ee’s can move forward with plans.

The location being considered is 601 Village West Parkway, not far from The Legends Outlets and Kansas Speedway. It will be 70,000 square feet, with 120 gas pumps and a whole convenience store on 25.80 acres.

Three applications went before the planning commission on Monday: one for rezoning the land, a second for the plot to be used as a commercial lot and a third for amending the master plan to change it from an entertainment district to a commercial district.

All three were approved 9-0, with no one opposed.

Buc-ee’s is known for its clean bathrooms, food, all those fuel pumps and its iconic mascot.

What comes next? Two of those applications will still have to go before the full Unified Government Council on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The closest Buc-ee’s to the Kansas City metro right now is Springfield, Missouri.
