Bundle up for a colder start to the day. Temperatures early this morning are around freezing and still have some time to drop a bit more.

A Freeze Warning will remain in effect until 9am. Once it expires, following overnights and early mornings will not be as cold the rest of the week.

High temperatures will be cooler than average again under mostly sunny skies. Winds are light this morning but will increase to 20 to 30 mph through the day. Winds will be strongest in Northern and Western Kansas.

Due to the strong winds and dry conditions, fire weather alerts will start to go into effect. A Fire Weather Warning will be in effect today and a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Thursday when gusts could reach 45 to 50 mph.

Southerly winds remain elevated through the night and will not die down much. This will also keep overnight low temperatures from dropping below freezing.

We are one day closer to rain chances returning. Temperatures late in the week will turn warmer too but they will also be near average.

The system that will bring us active weather is currently well to our west. High pressure will keep us sunny and dry in the meantime.

As the system approaches there could be a few raindrops to the west by Thursday night and Friday. Rain chances rise over the weekend with the best chances being to the west.

The system will not move much over the weekend which means there will not be much movement in showers too. Rain will continue to favor Western Kansas through Sunday.

Showers and a few thunderstorms finally get pushed farther east Monday. There will not be much of an impact on temperatures as they will be slightly above the norm.
