HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — A driver ended up in jail Thursday after two crashes and a short standoff at the Reno County Landfill.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, a Ford F350 was involved in a hit-and-run around 2:20 in the afternoon at Fourth Avenue and Hendricks in southwest Hutchinson. The driver of the vehicle that was hit was able to follow the pickup while calling 911 and giving the truck’s location.

An officer with the Hutchinson Police Department found the Ford F350 in the pit area of the Reno County Landfill. The officer pulled behind the truck and turned on the police car’s emergency lights.

The sheriff’s office says the driver briefly refused to get out of the truck but eventually obeyed and was arrested. It took less than an hour from the first reported crash to the arrest.
