    Fire shuts down highway in northwest Kansas

    SMITH CENTER, Kan. (KSNW) — A fire has shut down a highway in northwest Kansas.

    US-36 is closed from the Smith County Line to about K-128 in Jewell County. Smoke from the fire also led to visibility problems, creating hazards for drivers.

    Three major fires at one time in Harper County: ‘Chaotic’

    There have been no reports of accidents or injuries yet, and it’s not known when the road will reopen.
