WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 36-year-old Columbus man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday in southeast Kansas. It happened in Cherokee County just before 4 p.m.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a 2018 Ford Explorer was westbound on Southeast Greenlawn Road when it failed to stop at a sign. A Ford van heading north on Southeast 20th Street struck the Explorer.

Matthew C. Atkinson, a passenger in the Explorer, was killed. The KHP report said he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Explorer, a 35-year-old Columbus woman, was taken to Freeman West Hospital with serious injuries.
