SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to stay undefeated as they face the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl rematch.

The Chiefs are also looking to continue their success against the 49ers, who they’ve beaten four straight times (postseason included).

4th Quarter

• The Chiefs run the same play they did to win the Super Bowl on 3rd & goal but Mahomes was off on the throw and Hardman slipped as the pass was incomplete
• The Chiefs decide to go for it on 4th & goal from the 1 and score after Mahomes runs it up the middle for a TD and trucks Malik Mustapha in the process, Chiefs lead 21-12
• Update: Starting DB Jaylen Watson leaves the game limping after being stepped on, he has been replaced by Nazeeh Johnson
• The 49ers go after Johnson as Purdy hits Jacob Cowing for 41 yards to the Chiefs 10-yard line
• Karlaftis gets pressure on Purdy and forces an interception to rookie Jaden Hicks in the endzone, Chiefs take over with just over 10 minutes left
• Mahomes fights off pressure and gets it to Noah Gray for nine yards on 3rd & 8 with under five minutes to go
• Hardman scores on an 18-yard end around to put the icing on the cake, Chiefs go up 28-12 with just over three minutes to go
• Trent Williams gets ejected from the game after him and Bryan Cook trade slaps to the helmet

3rd Quarter

• Update: Aiyuk was carted to the locker room
• Mahomes throws another interception after Worthy falls down coming out of his route, 49ers take over at the Chiefs 33
• Purdy scores on a QB sneak from the one yard line, Carlson misses the extra point, Chiefs lead 14-12, huge takeaway for the Chiefs as the Niners were field goal range
• Jordan Mason bursts up the middle for a 26-yard gain to the 49ers 49-yard line
• Christian Roland-Wallace intercepts Purdy and the Chiefs take over at their own 21
• Mahomes escapes for a 33-yard scramble all the way to the 49ers four yard line, setting up 1st & goal

2nd Quarter

• The Chiefs take a 7-3 lead after Kareem Hunt scores on a 1-yard touchdown run
• Hardman gives the Chiefs great field position after a 55 yard return to the the 49ers 30
• UPDATE: Xavier Worthy is being looked at after taking a big hit from Malik Mustapha
• Hunt scores again after trudging through the Niners defense on a 6-yard TD run to go up 14-3
• The 49ers get their longest play of the game as Brock Purdy finds George Kittle for 22 yards over the middle to their own 42
• George Karlaftis sacks Purdy for a four yard loss, forcing 4th down
• The Niners punt again after a Brandon Aiyuk drop, the Chiefs defense has the 49ers offense rattled
• Rookie Ricky Pearsall gets his first NFL catch and receives an ovation from the crowd Levi Stadium… it’s his first game since he was shot in the chest back in August
• The Niners are threatening to score after Purdy hits Kittle for 41 yards to the Chiefs 33-yard line
• Aiyuk makes a 15-yard reception to the Chiefs 14 but he was injured after Chamarri Conner laid out a big hit near his thigh
• The Chiefs take a 7-3 lead after Kareem Hunt scores on a 1-yard touchdown run

1st Quarter

• Chiefs win the toss and defer, 49ers will receive to start to the game
• The Chiefs force a three and out after the 49ers opening drive was derailed by a holding penalty
• Patrick Mahomes finds Mecole Hardman for 17 yards on 3rd & 6 to the Chiefs 36
• The Chiefs decide to run a fake punt on 4th & 1 with a direct snap to Jaden Hicks and the 49ers stuff them, they take over at
• The Chiefs get the ball right back after Brock Purdy throws an interception to Justin Reid, they will take over at their own 42
• Mahomes hits Noah Gray for a 35-yard gain the Niners 32-yard line
• Mahomes throws an interception right back after Kalia Davis impressively tips a pass and intercepts it, Niners take over at their own 32 … been a very wacky start to the game
