TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A group of students had an out-of-this-world experience this after getting their questions answered by astronauts in space .

At Whitson Elementary, students had the opportunity to hear from two NASA astronauts live from the International Space Station (ISS). The students submitted their questions last school year, and the astronauts answered their 12 pre-recorded questions from space.

27 News spoke with three students, Nora Fulbright, Corben Manson and Grace Johnson-Castillo, about their thoughts on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“It was cool cause like that’s something you have to work really hard for,” Fulbright said.

“That’s not an everyday thing that normal humans do,” Manson stated.

“I would want to go to space because I love space,” Johnson-Castillo said. “I think it is very interesting and I would want to know how it feels to float.”

Whitson Elementary’s Principal, Keelin Pierce, said the second graders are currently learning about space in the classroom, so this opportunity came at the perfect time.
