    50-year-old dies after being hit by semi in SW Kansas

    MULLINVILLE ( KSNT ) – On Wednesday, a pedestrian attempting to cross a highway was hit by a semi-truck and died.

    Just after noon, 50-year-old Richard Hubbard of Phillipsburg was walking north on 10th Avenue in Mullinville. Hubbard attempted to cross U.S. Highway 54. A 2016 International semi-truck driven by a 67-year-old man from Pleasant Hope was westbound on U.S. Highway 54, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) crash log.

    Hubbard was struck by the semi-truck and taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead and next of kin notified. The semi-truck driver was uninjured and wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the KHP.
