TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – Federal health officials are warning Kansas residents to avoid eating a candy product sold in the state which could be contaminated with mold.

The Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) issued a press release on Aug. 22 regarding a recall from Authentik Fudge of Sainte-Julie based out of Quebec, Canada. The company is recalling 840 units of its 5.6 oz. “Chocolate Fudge with Nuts” branded Montreal Fudge as it could potentially have mold growth on it.

The recalled fudge products were sold at TJ Maxx and Marshalls store locations in multiple states, including Kansas. The products were distributed in June and bear the following expiration dates and lot numbers:

    • 2025/MR/01 with lot number 0241500805.
    • 2025/MR/17 with lot number 0241690105.

The FDA said the recall was started after a customer complained about finding mold pieces inside the product bag. Follow-up investigations found other unpacked sealed products at the manufacturing location that were showing signs of mold.

Customers who purchased the recalled products are urged to destroy them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can contact the company at info@authentikfudge.com or call 450-649-1331 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
