    One dead in Manhattan, two hospitalized rollover crash: RCPD

    UPDATE: Police have identified the person who died following this crash as Glen B. Kaw, 78, of Junction City.

    MANHATTAN ( KSNT ) – Police in Manhattan are responding to a reported crash that has closed a major road in the city and left one person dead Thursday.

    The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) announced on social media just after 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 there was a crash which closed Anderson Avenue beneath Seth Child Road. Both the off and on-ramps were closed on the west side leading onto and off of Seth Child Road.

    Around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 a Honda Civic was traveling east on Anderson Avenue when it hit a Chevy Equinox that was trying to make a left turn onto Seth Child Road, causing the Equinox to roll over. The passenger in the Equinox was taken to a Manhattan hospital for treatment and later declared dead. The driver of the Equinox was life-flighted from the area to a hospital in Topeka while the driver of the Civic was taken to a Manhattan hospital.

    Police still have Anderson Avenue at Seth Child Road closed as of 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 22. An open investigation is active for this deadly crash.
